Lacey Summer
Tue. August 9th 2011 3am
Several months ago, right before summer started, my friend from the blog Knittoo, posted an inspirational picture of several lace shawls on Pinterest. When I saw those gorgeous shawls made by the talented NJSTACIE, it inspired me to make lots and lots of lace shawls myself. I decided that I was going to carefully "study" lace knitting and boy did I have fun doing so. I have made 8 shawls in total over the last couple of months and I enjoyed making every single one of them. Today, I would like to share several of my favorite shawls with you, all of which are modeled by my gorgeous...

Gingko Shoulderette by Maggie Magali
Sun. May 29th 2011 7pm
A few days ago, while I was perusing my Ravelry queue, I noticed how I kept on clicking back to one particular shawl. This gorgeous shawl called "Gingko Shoulderette", would again and again call my name and I just couldn't keep my eyes off of it. There was something about it... something so... well balanced and serene. At first, I couldn't put my finger on it, but then I remembered how I felt the same way whenever I would lay my eyes on Tibetan Thangka paintings and Tibetan Mandala art: balanced and serene and utterly magical... No time to block
Thu. May 26th 2011 9pm
I have been obsessing over my knitting...again. All I can think about are lace triangular shawls and I have finished three of them already. I almost feel like a freak, but... hey, so be it. I am a freak. An obsessing knitting freak. So far I have finished two Holden Shawlettes and one Peacock Shawlette. But do I take time to block them? No. And why is that? I have no time to block...I already have another triangular lace shawl on the brain. So my three finished shawls are patiently waiting until I am done obsessing. I am sure they understand... They are so sweet... edges curled...

Hues of Golden
Mon. May 23rd 2011 11pm
While browsing for yarn at Knitty City in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I fell in love with a silk yarn by Handmaiden. Different hues of golden are captured in this beautiful fingering silk yarn; from deep golden to soft golden to subtle golden. I wish you could see how this yarn radiates! Usually, I go for the solid colors but ever since I have gotten lace shawls on the brain, I am on the hunt for yarns in very subtle color variegation. Here's an example of a Malabrigo sock yarn with a subtle yet vibrant tone on tone variegation: Vibrant hues of fuchsia, dark pink and purples are...

Charly Infinity Scarf
Wed. March 9th 2011 11pm
Infinity scarves have been all the rage here in NYC. The construction is ridiculously simple, you just make a scarf and seam the ends together! This winter, I have been making all kinds of infinity scarves and the simpler the pattern, the better the look. When I posted a picture of my brother's girlfriend wearing an infinity scarf, a knitter named 'Rikkelondon' asked me if I could share the pattern. Sure I can. Have your two balls of Rowan Big Wool ready, Rikkelondon! This infinity scarf is named after my brother's girlfriend: Charly. This is a simple...

Inspired Again
Mon. March 7th 2011 10pm
For the past few weeks now, I have been incredibly uninspired. No yarn nor pattern were able to excite me, and after searching and searching I finally gave up and put my knitting needles to rest. I did not want to knit, or even write about knitting as you may well have noticed. Then, during a trip to Knitty City on the Upper East Side, I saw proprietress Pearl wearing a beautiful sweater! It stopped me in my tracks and I asked for the pattern. Pearl told me it is named "Origami Pullover", designed by Liz Daniels for Frog Tree Yarns. The lady in the picture is not...

Scatterbrained
Thu. December 23rd 2010 3am
I have been very scatterbrained over the past few days... No matter what I do, I cannot seem to focus, I keep on losing things and my craft table is a disaster! Not to mention knitting, designing or writing. I start something, only to forget what I was going to do and in which direction I was heading. Not good. Not good at all. My brain is completely mush... Intuitive hat by Julia Zahle While my brain is mush, let me tell you about a hat I finished several months ago. I had completely forgotten about it but during my aimless searching for other items over the past...

Mink yarn by Jade Sapphire
Tue. December 21st 2010 2am
The brand Jade Sapphire, who I admire for their excellent cashmere, has put out a new exotic yarn: mink yarn. This incredibly luxurious yarn is hand spun out of combed mink. Rest assured that the little animals have not been harmed in any way! When I picked up this yarn at La Casita's, I was just blown away and simply had to take it home with me. Because this is a delicate fiber, I wound it into a ball by hand. The knitting experience is superb and the fabric it yields is pure opulence. I made a Sally Fingerless glove and I could not believe how soft my glove felt. Not...

A Sense of Home
Wed. December 15th 2010 2am
Yesterday late in the afternoon on my way to Martial Arts class, I noticed how easily I was moving among the crowd of people. My pace has become very fast and is up to par with Manhattan standards, my manner of walking and moving has become more and more confident and lastly I have learned how to put up my "you better don't start with me" face whenever needed in a certain situation. Also, it was an important day for me because I have officially been accepted as a student at the World Martial Arts School in Manhattan for which I am very proud and honored. I feel humbled as a white belt and...

Almost there...
Fri. December 10th 2010 1am
I have been knitting like crazy over the past few weeks. And to tell you the truth, I am really over it. Production knitting is at times no fun at all... I cannot believe how much I produced and ouch... my hands and wrists hurt! Here is a picture of the cowls I have been knitting all day today. I have gotten 7 pieces down today, 3 more to go! Tomorrow, I will be seaming all of my pieces together... sigh... no complaining, right? This is a super short blog post, everybody! I am simply to busy right now. Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Thanks for reading and until the...
