Charly Infinity Scarf
Wed. March 9th 2011 11pm
Infinity scarves have been all the rage here in NYC. The construction is ridiculously simple, you just make a scarf and seam the ends together! This winter, I have been making all kinds of infinity scarves and the simpler the pattern, the better the look. When I posted a picture of my brother's girlfriend wearing an infinity scarf, a knitter named 'Rikkelondon' asked me if I could share the pattern. Sure I can. Have your two balls of Rowan Big Wool ready, Rikkelondon! This infinity scarf is named after my brother's girlfriend: Charly. This is a simple...

A luscious Feather and Fan Shawl, knitted with two different yarns held together. You are going to knit two identical pieces which are later on joined with the three needle bind off technique. The main body consists of the Feather and Fan pattern stitch, however with a slight variation. In this post you will find: Picture tutorial How to wear your Miss Jenni Shawl Pdf file with pattern Miss Jenni Shawl (scroll all the way down) The material: two dainty yarns For my Miss Jenni Shawl, I am using two balls of Kidsilk Haze by Rowan (color 627) and two balls of Lace Merino Silk by...

Free Pattern: Simply Garter
Wed. October 14th 2009 6am
When I was a very new knitter I only knew how to do the knit stitch. So like many new knitters, I made a scarf entirely made with the knit stitch. I learned quickly that using only knit stitch in a garment, is called "Garter Stitch". Other than in my very first scarf, I never ever used the Garter Stitch again. That is, until recently when a lady walked into the yarnstore with the most beautiful and luscious scarf. I was simply captured by it and was surprised when I found out it was made with merely Garter Stitch! I could not stop thinking about that scarf and just had to make it...

Free Pattern: Seed Stitch Cowl Colinette Point 5
Wed. September 24th 2008 9pm
I was playing around with some huge yarn called Colinette Point 5 and needle size US#19 and showed it to my co-worker Adrienne. She was immediately interested in the yarn, purchased some and two days later she presented me her version which you can see in the pictures. Sweet! Unlike me, Adrienne chose to work with needle size #17 because she wanted a more dense and closer knit cowl. Seeing her cowl made me change to needle #17 too! Allthough this very thick and thin yarn is totally out of my comfort zone, I have to admit that I really like it. The seed stitch gives it a very...

Free Pattern: Double Dayflower Scarf
Thu. October 18th 2007 6am
A few months after I first learned how to do a knit stitch and a purl stitch, I was ready to venture out to lace. I was in awe of those knitters who could do lace and would browse the knitting forums and lurk in every thread were lace was discussed. One day, I stumbled across a lace thread over at Knittinghelp.com. The knitters were discussing a lace pattern called "Dayflower" and one knitter in particular wanted to double this pattern but did know how to. Other knitters came to the rescue and at the end of the thread somebody wrote out the whole 16 row repeat pattern and doubled it! I...

In which I slip into a Funk...and get pulled out.
Fri. June 22nd 2007 8am
I slipped into a funk... I was wandering so deliciously in my world of color, imagination and joy when suddenly I hit this grey wall which confused me so much that I lost my balance and slipped into a funk. Life is not all about joy, laughter, love and happiness... Once I dreamt that a dark energy came rolling at me. I still recall its terrifying sound...it was the sound of a heavy rolling and crushing all destroying millstone. I could see images of hate, hurt and pain. Luckily, the terrifying millstone of dark energy rolled passed me and I heard it say: "I too exist in this world. Do...
