My Biggest Mistake
Tue. June 16th 2015 3pm
My biggest mistake for the past 3 years, is not updating my website. Not showing up, not writing, not taking pictures is a big no no when you want to have some sort of an online presence. I have failed miserably in this regard. And when one fails there are two things you can do: you stay down... or... you get up again. What have you been up to, Nancy, for the past 3 years? Oh dear, been working hard, trying to get noticed in the city of all cities. I have had, just like anybody else, my ups and my downs. And just like anybody else, I have had my doubts and...

Trunkshow at La Casita Yarn Shop Cafe
Fri. September 16th 2011 3am
Last Tuesday my latest trunkshow kicked off at La Casita Yarn Shop Cafe in Brooklyn. I was planning on writing about this weeks ahead to keep you all informed, but alas, suddenly it became so busy in my life that I completely dropped the ball. What can I say... I have been horribly busy knitting other people's designs. Ah, but moving forward now while I am putting my excuses aside! Come have a glass of wine with me at La Casita! My trunkshow in which my designs for Jade Sapphire are being showcased started last Tuesday and will stay at La Casita until coming Tuesday....

A sigh of relief
Mon. August 29th 2011 8pm
Over the past weekend, Hurricane Irene passed through our region. She made landfall last Saturday in North Carolina and made her way through Virginia to the state of New York and further up north. Needless to say that we had some very anxious moments. Just the fact that a hurricane is coming straight at you is quite scary, I tell you. We were well prepared for Irene's visit: our fridge and pantry stuffed with lots and lots of groceries, candles and flashlight ready to go and a battery operated radio in case of a power outage. Luckily we could stay put in our little apartment, no...

How has your summer been?
Fri. August 26th 2011 1pm
Hi there, stranger! Long time no see... How has your summer been so far? I know, I know... I haven't been around here much. I am sorry, I didn't mean to leave you hanging like this... My summer has been good in many ways, but also challenging here and there. One thing is for sure though, I have been knitting all through summer! Still getting used to NYC It has almost been a year since we moved back to Manhattan and although I am very happy to be here, at times this energetic city can be a hard place to be in for me. This city is intense, I tell you. I have never ever...

Lacey Summer
Tue. August 9th 2011 3am
Several months ago, right before summer started, my friend from the blog Knittoo, posted an inspirational picture of several lace shawls on Pinterest. When I saw those gorgeous shawls made by the talented NJSTACIE, it inspired me to make lots and lots of lace shawls myself. I decided that I was going to carefully "study" lace knitting and boy did I have fun doing so. I have made 8 shawls in total over the last couple of months and I enjoyed making every single one of them. Today, I would like to share several of my favorite shawls with you, all of which are modeled by my gorgeous...

My famous chin
Wed. June 1st 2011 9pm
Well whaddya know and who would've thunk... My very own chin appeared in the latest VOGUE Knitting... I wrote earlier that I have been designing for Jade Sapphire's newest yarn called "Moonlight" a delicious hand spun cashmere/mink blend. An ad showing my designs appeared in VOGUE Knitting on page 22. Check it out, upper left: Gah... I think I've got butterflies in my belly... Here is a close up of the ad: The designs that I am wearing are called "Amanda Neckwarmer" and "Luna Infinity Scarf": The Amanda Neckwarmer and Luna Infinity will make their debut at the TNNA trade show in Columbus...

Gingko Shoulderette by Maggie Magali
Sun. May 29th 2011 7pm
A few days ago, while I was perusing my Ravelry queue, I noticed how I kept on clicking back to one particular shawl. This gorgeous shawl called "Gingko Shoulderette", would again and again call my name and I just couldn't keep my eyes off of it. There was something about it... something so... well balanced and serene. At first, I couldn't put my finger on it, but then I remembered how I felt the same way whenever I would lay my eyes on Tibetan Thangka paintings and Tibetan Mandala art: balanced and serene and utterly magical... No time to block
Thu. May 26th 2011 9pm
I have been obsessing over my knitting...again. All I can think about are lace triangular shawls and I have finished three of them already. I almost feel like a freak, but... hey, so be it. I am a freak. An obsessing knitting freak. So far I have finished two Holden Shawlettes and one Peacock Shawlette. But do I take time to block them? No. And why is that? I have no time to block...I already have another triangular lace shawl on the brain. So my three finished shawls are patiently waiting until I am done obsessing. I am sure they understand... They are so sweet... edges curled...

Hues of Golden
Mon. May 23rd 2011 11pm
While browsing for yarn at Knitty City in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I fell in love with a silk yarn by Handmaiden. Different hues of golden are captured in this beautiful fingering silk yarn; from deep golden to soft golden to subtle golden. I wish you could see how this yarn radiates! Usually, I go for the solid colors but ever since I have gotten lace shawls on the brain, I am on the hunt for yarns in very subtle color variegation. Here's an example of a Malabrigo sock yarn with a subtle yet vibrant tone on tone variegation: Vibrant hues of fuchsia, dark pink and purples are...
