Finished Hats
Fern Glade
Thu. February 24th 2011 5pm
Here's a hat from Knitty called Fern Glade. I made this hat last Summer during my stay in San Francisco and was disappointed with the outcome. Disappointed? Geez, what was wrong with me back then? I LOVE it now and am itching to make another one. I used Cascade Venezia worsted and needle size US#4 and US#6. The pattern is supposed to be a beret pattern but my version doesn't really show that. Oh well, I love it to pieces anyways now. The lace pattern simply makes me swoon... so pretty! Not much knitting going on from yours truly. I am searching for a pattern that will...

Scatterbrained
Thu. December 23rd 2010 3am
I have been very scatterbrained over the past few days... No matter what I do, I cannot seem to focus, I keep on losing things and my craft table is a disaster! Not to mention knitting, designing or writing. I start something, only to forget what I was going to do and in which direction I was heading. Not good. Not good at all. My brain is completely mush... Intuitive hat by Julia Zahle While my brain is mush, let me tell you about a hat I finished several months ago. I had completely forgotten about it but during my aimless searching for other items over the past...

Crooked Path
Thu. August 19th 2010 3am
Pattern: Crooked Path by Melissa LaBarreYarn: 1 ball of Madeline Tosh VintageNeedles: Addi Turbo 16", US5 and US7 This jewel of a design had my heart beating faster when I found it on Ravelry. The soft curves in the lace design and especially the way the design comes together at the very top is just so pleasing to the eyes. I was thrilled to see that the designer Melissa LaBarre used Madeline Tosh Vintage! What a wonderful marriage of design and yarn...sigh of delight! Of course I rushed to Imagiknit's, a yarn shop in San Francisco which I frequent often now, and got me some wonderful...

16 Sixteen Cable Hat
Fri. August 13th 2010 3am
Pattern: 16 sixteen cable hatYarn: 2 balls of Rowan Kid ClassicNeedles: Addi Turbo 16", US7Size: the bigger size, co 88 st While browsing for a hat pattern on Ravelry, I found this fantastic hat pattern called 16 sixteen cable hat by Circe aux Belles Boucles. I was so happy to find this sweet little piece, especially after I became somewhat impatient after having browsed through over 400 (!) hat patterns before I got to this one. But oh boy, it was worth the search. I am loving the wide, all over cables and it works so well with the yarn I used: Rowan Kid Classic. It was a pleasure to...

Free Pattern: Nettie Hat
Sun. April 18th 2010 10pm
Inspired by the Felicity Hat designed by Brooklyn based crafty queen Wanett Clyde, I am presenting to you the Nettie Hat. Special thanks to Wanett Clyde for granting me permission to publish the Nettie Hat for free here on Getting Purly With It. Wannet's Ravelry name is "Nettie" and to honor her I named this hat after her! The Nettie Hat is an easy stockinette stitch based hat which I offer you in two different versions. (Scroll all the way down to get to PDF files.) Nettie Hat Version 1 is knit in the round using US5 and US7 circular 16" (yarn used in this picture Malabrigo Silk/...

Chasing away the Gray
Mon. April 12th 2010 3am
It is a gray and dreary Sunday here in downtown San Francisco... The sun is nowhere to be found, dark clouds are hanging gloomy over the city and raindrops are telling me to stay put in our little apartment studio on the 28th floor. It is a gray and dreary Sunday here in downtown San Francisco... The sun is nowhere to be found, dark clouds are hanging gloomy over the city and raindrops are telling me to stay put in our little apartment studio on the 28th floor. For just a split second, my spirits are leaning over to the gray side, but quickly lift when I look at all of my...

Madeline Tosh yarn...DELICIOUS!
Wed. April 8th 2009 12am
Those who have been following me on Twitter these last few days, will not be surprised that this post is all about Madeline Tosh yarn. One word for this yarncompany: DELICIOUS! When Sally, owner of the yarnshop Closeknit, told us that some Madeline Tosh yarn was on the way, I could not have imagined that it would be this heavenly. As soon as it came in, I was lusting over it... Sally then asked me to knit up a Felictiy Hat with some Tosh Worsted by Madeline Tosh and oh boy... I am in love! Everything about this yarn is gorgeous: the beautiful tone on tone color just glows, the...

Boom..!
Fri. April 3rd 2009 4am
Just the other night, after I posted on my blog about Wanett Clyde's Felicity Hat, I was pouting pouting pouting because my hands hurt so bad that I could not knit. I had my worsted weight yarn ready to go and everytime I passed by it I would lament my miserable state of non-knitting being. And the gates of doom opened... I lamented the fact I couldn't knit, lamented the fact that the weather had been BLAH lately, lamented the fact that the yarn Karabella Breeze was absolutely not talking to me...DANG BREEZE!!! And then, dear reader... BOOM..! It hit me. Hit me hard. Wait a minute...

A day in the Bubblehood
Fri. April 18th 2008 8pm
In a world where everything goes so incredible fast, I like to take my moments of slow pace. What better way to start my day off with an early morning walk? As the sun is climbing I slowly get ready for a peaceful stroll in my neighborhood which I lovingly nicknamed "the Bubblehood". At the slow pace of walking I am able to enjoy certain visuals, and I find little treasures which on a fast pace, would have been hidden from me. One man's trash is another man's treasure, in this case a vintage crochet magazine called "Pineapple Fan Fair", oh goodies! I love it when people place a "...

Looking up from my knitting needles
Wed. April 16th 2008 4am
It has been a little over 2 years since I first picked up knitting. I vividly remember my very first yarn I bought and I wrote about it way back when I just had started this blog. I was so captivated by yarn and knitting and soon enough I decided that I wanted to demistify this mesmerizing craft. And so I did... Over the past 2 years I have absorbed knitting knowledge like a thirsty sponge. I found myself buying all kinds of yarns, needles, notions, patterns and books... so many books! I have been extremely focused on knitting and all there was to learn about knitting and yarn. Sure...
