Tubey is finished!
Sun. October 28th 2007 6am
Love it, love it, LOVE IT! Two days ago, I finally finished my Tubey! I have been wearing it for the past days, and I cannot tell you how PLEASED I am with the result. The yarn feels incredibly soft on my skin, it keeps me warm and comfy and on top of that, it fits me really well. This wonderful design Tubey, by Cassie Rovitti, merely consist of 2 tubes. No seams at all! I would like to write in detail about my finished project Tubey. Yarn: 3.5 balls of Cascade Venezia Worsted weightCosts of yarn: 4 x $ 14.– = $ 56.– (that’s a good deal for a sweater project)Needle Size: US 5Gauge: 20...

Vintage Stole The Vintage Stole is finished! I love love love it... the little pouch where you can pull through the other end of the stole just does it for me. No knot, so it lays flat. There are many ways to wear this simple yet very feminine and elegant stole: I got the pattern from a yarn shop called Mable's in Portland. Unfortunately, this cute yarnshop is no longer in business. I am going to contact Cait, who used to own Mable's, and ask her if I can post this pattern on my blog and credit the designer Annette. Fingers crossed! Yarn: 7 balls of Rowan Kidsilk Aura (costly project...

Free Pattern: Double Dayflower Scarf
Thu. October 18th 2007 6am
A few months after I first learned how to do a knit stitch and a purl stitch, I was ready to venture out to lace. I was in awe of those knitters who could do lace and would browse the knitting forums and lurk in every thread were lace was discussed. One day, I stumbled across a lace thread over at Knittinghelp.com. The knitters were discussing a lace pattern called "Dayflower" and one knitter in particular wanted to double this pattern but did know how to. Other knitters came to the rescue and at the end of the thread somebody wrote out the whole 16 row repeat pattern and doubled it! I...

Sweet Surprise in Hood River
Wed. October 17th 2007 5am
Roadtrip to the fruit orchards of Hood River Ever since I arrived in Oregon, I had heard about the fruit orchards in the Hood River area. This time of year is the perfect time to head over there because of the apple and pear harvest and I was happy and excited as a child when we finally made the road trip to the fruit orchards. As we drove alongside the Colombia River Gorge, we were surprised by the strange wheather; it was drizzling rain and the sun was shining brightly at the same time. Because of this, many little rainbows rose up from the Columbia River, forming a gigantic rainbow river...

Roadtrip to the Oregon Coast How far away I felt from the Netherlands as we arrived at the Oregon Coast during a roadtrip last week. And how I gasped when we saw the beach of Manzanita. Often times, especially when I experience yet another part of Oregon, I just cannot believe that I am actually living in the beautiful Pacific North West. Manzanita is simply enchanting but Wheeler, a little tiny village, made me scream. How cute... Situated in a bay and surrounded by hills, mysteriously shrouded by misty fog, this tiny village stole my heart. And as the sun was setting, we left Wheeler...

Finishing up even more stuff
Mon. October 1st 2007 2am
Watching the Harvest Moon rise Last Thursday, September 27, me and my honey set out to watch the Harvest Moon rise over downtown Portland, OR. I wanted to take some pictures of this moon, but of course I had to forget my tripod... While we strolled towards the overlook, hand in hand, giggling like two teenagers, we found this romantic spot: And then we watched the moon rise... sigh... it was so incredibly beautiful, romantic and mysterious. It was as if the moon was on fire... Black Sari See how my choli almost disappears behind the black sari I am wearing? I simply love that...

Bye Summer of 2007
Thu. September 27th 2007 12am
Just two weeks ago, during a hot summer's late afternoon, I was able to make some nice pictures at my friend's place. The heat was almost unbearable but could not keep me from making some nice shots in the garden. Little did I suspect that this day would be the last of the warm days and that Autumn would arrive with chilly and crisp mornings. Bye Summer... you started out with long and drawn out days for me, but ended with high energy and not enough hours in a day. Also, you were my first Summer ever in the Pacific North West... Bye, untill we meet again next year. Finishing up stuff I...

In which the Late Afternoon Sun is urging me to slow down
Sat. September 22nd 2007 4am
Lately I have been running around from one Non-Knitting Project to the next Non-Knitting Project. My mind is occupied with planning, scheduling, getting from point A to point B, no time for home cooking, no time for doing groceries. No time for knitting, you may ask? Never ever will I let that happen. This busy life results in knitting untill way passed midnight, and waking up early to do just that little bit of knitting untill it is time to be occupied with Non-Knitting Projects again. Still this is not enough and I am way behind schedule which only produces.... stress. Then, on a late...

Oh Lady Eleanor...
Wed. September 5th 2007 4am
Oh Lady Eleanor... how much I adore her! I have finished the knitting part, single crocheted the edges and attached all 52 fringes: I almost don't want to knot the fringes... as if I am afraid she will leave me as soon as I am done with her. Will you believe me that I felt a little lost when I finished the last tier of rectangles..? I love love love this pattern SO MUCH, that without even finishing it, I immediately purchased a new colorway and casted on quickly, like a girl madly in love hasting to be reunited with her lover. Tackling the Fitted Sleeve Cap Oh boy… not easy...
