A day in the Bubblehood
Fri. April 18th 2008 8pm
In a world where everything goes so incredible fast, I like to take my moments of slow pace. What better way to start my day off with an early morning walk? As the sun is climbing I slowly get ready for a peaceful stroll in my neighborhood which I lovingly nicknamed "the Bubblehood". At the slow pace of walking I am able to enjoy certain visuals, and I find little treasures which on a fast pace, would have been hidden from me. One man's trash is another man's treasure, in this case a vintage crochet magazine called "Pineapple Fan Fair", oh goodies! I love it when people place a "...

Looking up from my knitting needles
Wed. April 16th 2008 4am
It has been a little over 2 years since I first picked up knitting. I vividly remember my very first yarn I bought and I wrote about it way back when I just had started this blog. I was so captivated by yarn and knitting and soon enough I decided that I wanted to demistify this mesmerizing craft. And so I did... Over the past 2 years I have absorbed knitting knowledge like a thirsty sponge. I found myself buying all kinds of yarns, needles, notions, patterns and books... so many books! I have been extremely focused on knitting and all there was to learn about knitting and yarn. Sure...

Heavenly Bliss
Sat. April 12th 2008 4am
A few days ago, oh lucky me, I had a facial over at Ruby Violet's on Alberta street. I had been looking forward to this treat for weeks and literally ran to this cute little tucked away spa. Sarah, the owner of Ruby Violet, took good care of me and my face! The best part of it all was a good massage and I felt so invigorated. And then it happened... I had a hard time getting up from the massage table...I stumbled to the hallway and told Sarah I needed a few minutes to get myself together. I sat down on the bench for a few, had a glass of water and then... oh my word... I felt how my whole...

Knitting Sunday!
Mon. April 7th 2008 5am
Swatching and scouting magazines for patterns that interest me is what I have been doing last week... other than that, work and being a social butterfly has totally consumed me! Allthough I am busy, I can honestly say, life is good. I have been swatching with some Classic Elite Wool Bamboo (see picture above). Delicious, nice stretchy yarn with a wonderful sheen to it. I am thinking a cute tanktop for spring or some nice lounge top to wear just at home. I also have been swatching with some Karabella Breeze: This luxurious blend of cashmere and silk makes me think of a light lace shawl....

So Frenchy
Wed. April 2nd 2008 7am
It looks so frenchy, my skinny scarf made out of Cashmere 5 by Artyarns. The beret, the scarf, my black fitted top... all that is missing is a Gauloise cigarette, et voila, je suis une femme parisienne. This was a sweet little project, I just adore working with cashmere! The pattern that I used is just the feather and fan lace stitch on a needle size 8. I kept on going untill I ran out of yarn. Sweet and simple. Remember this one? Those of you who have been frequenting my knitting blog must remember this project: Remember how I miserably failed with the increases at the...

Just 5 strands...
Wed. March 26th 2008 5am
All it takes is just 5 strands... Five strands of mere softness, lusciousness and pure delight make my heart skip a beat and I hold my breath only to exhale in pure excitement. As these 5 strands slide through my fingers, the softness and shine of this incredible yarn just makes me want to scream. However, I have to remind myself that I am not the only one at the Teahouse so I refrain from making loud noises. Instead, I indulge in silent secrecy and the only sound one can detect are the soft click-clicks of my Addi's. I doubt that anyone can hear the sound of 5 strands of pure cashmere...

Quick for sure, this lovely little beret pattern called Portia by Louisa Harding. However enjoyable... hmmm... not too much. I had a hard time figuring out the lace pattern and saying aloud what stitch would come after the other stitch really helped me. Usually, I simply "understand" a lace pattern and I don't have to count too...

Jelly Fish and Louisa Harding
Thu. March 20th 2008 2am
For the past few days, it has been very very windy at the sea. The lifeguard has put out the red and black flags out, but also the purple flag as a warning for jelly fish! No doubt that these beautiful colored creatures from the sea are etherically gracious in their element, but laying there in the sand they looked so akwardly out of place... nonetheless, still beautiful. I spotted a lady examining these beautiful creatures too and it struck me how similar the colors of her kite was to the color of the jelly fish: Louisa Harding Lately, I am very taken by Louisa Harding's...

Getting my Mojo Back
Sun. March 16th 2008 2am
Sometimes a change of scenery will do wonders... So I have discovered ever since I arrived in Hollywood Beach, Florida. Just the other morning, when the beach was still quiet and heavenly peaceful, I stood with my bare feet on the white sandy beach, watched the palmtree leaves sway in the ocean breeze and I took a deep deep breath. Then I waited patiently for a strong breeze and when it finally arrived, I threw my arms way up in the air and cast away all of my sorrows. January and February have been tough months... As for March? I say let the good times roll! Getting my Mojo back...
