Gingko Shoulderette by Maggie Magali
Sun. May 29th 2011 7pm
A few days ago, while I was perusing my Ravelry queue, I noticed how I kept on clicking back to one particular shawl. This gorgeous shawl called "Gingko Shoulderette", would again and again call my name and I just couldn't keep my eyes off of it. There was something about it... something so... well balanced and serene. At first, I couldn't put my finger on it, but then I remembered how I felt the same way whenever I would lay my eyes on Tibetan Thangka paintings and Tibetan Mandala art: balanced and serene and utterly magical... No time to block
Thu. May 26th 2011 9pm
I have been obsessing over my knitting...again. All I can think about are lace triangular shawls and I have finished three of them already. I almost feel like a freak, but... hey, so be it. I am a freak. An obsessing knitting freak. So far I have finished two Holden Shawlettes and one Peacock Shawlette. But do I take time to block them? No. And why is that? I have no time to block...I already have another triangular lace shawl on the brain. So my three finished shawls are patiently waiting until I am done obsessing. I am sure they understand... They are so sweet... edges curled...

Hues of Golden
Mon. May 23rd 2011 11pm
While browsing for yarn at Knitty City in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I fell in love with a silk yarn by Handmaiden. Different hues of golden are captured in this beautiful fingering silk yarn; from deep golden to soft golden to subtle golden. I wish you could see how this yarn radiates! Usually, I go for the solid colors but ever since I have gotten lace shawls on the brain, I am on the hunt for yarns in very subtle color variegation. Here's an example of a Malabrigo sock yarn with a subtle yet vibrant tone on tone variegation: Vibrant hues of fuchsia, dark pink and purples are...

Kitman Figueroa
Wed. May 18th 2011 5pm
While browsing on Ravelry for lace shawls, I happened to stumble on several gorgeous pieces. Every time I would queue these pieces, I noticed that they were all designed by one and the same designer. I see a lot of designs. Every single day I flip through books and magazine, browse through the Internet, always on the search for pieces that make me pause and make my heart skip a beat. It is almost as if I am treasure hunting. I patiently wade through hundreds and hundreds of patterns, waiting for that talented designer to encapture me. And such a designer I have found in Kitman Figueroa....

Choosing the right picture
Tue. May 10th 2011 1am
Last March, Jade Sapphire send me a box full of cashmeres and asked me to design a line for them. I of course was more than happy to oblige! I have designed several pieces, all samples have been knit up, and patterns are written out and send to the graphic designers. After all this comes the part I kind of dread... photography. Until now I have been able to do it myself, using friends as models and I am the photographer. This time around however, I am the model and my dear friend Jenni took the pictures. We set out last Sunday and started shooting away! Narrowing it down My...

My Sweet Community
Mon. May 2nd 2011 12am
When my husband and I moved to New York City last September, I was very excited but also a bit nervous. As insecurities settled in my heart, I anxiously wondered whether New York City would accept me as a friend. Being the new kid on the block I was quite shy and very intimidated, but it didn't stop me from getting out there to find my people. I was determined to find my kindred spirits and to connect with them. And If I would find them, I could only wish that they would accept me in a warm and loving way... La Casita Yarn Shop Cafe After criss-crossing all over New York City,...
