Happy Holidays
Fri. December 24th 2010 10am
I would like to wish everybody very Happy Holidays! I hope you will be able to celebrate these days with family and loved ones. It is time to take a well deserved Holiday break from blogging for me. I will reflect on 2010, make a plan for the new year and need to do so in solitude. But I won't be gone for long, that's a promise! In the mean time, enjoy the festivities... And once again, thank you so much for returning here again and again. I truly appreciate your readership and am so happy to know that there are wonderful knitters out there that...

Scatterbrained
Thu. December 23rd 2010 3am
I have been very scatterbrained over the past few days... No matter what I do, I cannot seem to focus, I keep on losing things and my craft table is a disaster! Not to mention knitting, designing or writing. I start something, only to forget what I was going to do and in which direction I was heading. Not good. Not good at all. My brain is completely mush... Intuitive hat by Julia Zahle While my brain is mush, let me tell you about a hat I finished several months ago. I had completely forgotten about it but during my aimless searching for other items over the past...

Mink yarn by Jade Sapphire
Tue. December 21st 2010 2am
The brand Jade Sapphire, who I admire for their excellent cashmere, has put out a new exotic yarn: mink yarn. This incredibly luxurious yarn is hand spun out of combed mink. Rest assured that the little animals have not been harmed in any way! When I picked up this yarn at La Casita's, I was just blown away and simply had to take it home with me. Because this is a delicate fiber, I wound it into a ball by hand. The knitting experience is superb and the fabric it yields is pure opulence. I made a Sally Fingerless glove and I could not believe how soft my glove felt. Not...

Collaboration with La Casita in Brooklyn
Mon. December 20th 2010 3am
When I arrived in NYC last September, I heard rumours of a new yarn shop in Brooklyn called La Casita. I had heard nothing but good about this shop and people raved about it's friendliness and happy energy. Of course I had to find out myself and made the trek to La Casita's in mid November. All the good things I'd heard about this shop proved to be true and then some. When I first entered this shop I was greeted with such warmth and genuine friendliness, I felt I got wrapped up in a hand knitted cashmere blanket. Enthusiastic spirit After my first visit, I...

Collaboration with IDOM
Thu. December 16th 2010 2am
A few weeks ago I was contacted by fashion designer Modi Soondarotok asking me whether I would be interested in doing a collaboration. Modi owns a fashion boutique in Portland called IDOM and in the past I have purchased one of her wonderful pieces. Doing a collaboration with a fashion designer and having my work displayed in a fashion boutique??? Uhmmm... YES OF COURSE! Since I am familiar with IDOM's aesthetics, I knew exactly what colors would work with their collection. I created an infinity scarf which can be worn different ways: And I also created...

A Sense of Home
Wed. December 15th 2010 2am
Yesterday late in the afternoon on my way to Martial Arts class, I noticed how easily I was moving among the crowd of people. My pace has become very fast and is up to par with Manhattan standards, my manner of walking and moving has become more and more confident and lastly I have learned how to put up my "you better don't start with me" face whenever needed in a certain situation. Also, it was an important day for me because I have officially been accepted as a student at the World Martial Arts School in Manhattan for which I am very proud and honored. I feel humbled as a white belt and...

Oh well..!
Mon. December 13th 2010 9pm
Last Saturday and Sunday, I participated in a craft fair in downtown Manhattan together with my friend multi-media artist Faune Yerby. When I arrived at the venue, it struck me how cold it felt and I wasn't feeling the over all ambiance of the space. When I got ready to set up my work, my trousers ripped. Great. Then, later in the morning, the enamel of one of my front teeth chipped off. Yay. And no matter what I did, I couldn't get warm. I was simply chilled to the bone. From there, my attitude went downhill but I picked myself up and tried to make the best...

Almost there...
Fri. December 10th 2010 1am
I have been knitting like crazy over the past few weeks. And to tell you the truth, I am really over it. Production knitting is at times no fun at all... I cannot believe how much I produced and ouch... my hands and wrists hurt! Here is a picture of the cowls I have been knitting all day today. I have gotten 7 pieces down today, 3 more to go! Tomorrow, I will be seaming all of my pieces together... sigh... no complaining, right? This is a super short blog post, everybody! I am simply to busy right now. Just wanted to pop in and say hi! Thanks for reading and until the...

Life is good in NYC...
Thu. December 9th 2010 3am
Today I had an appointment at Arrojo Studio in Tribeca and I was quite excited about it since I hadn't had a haircut for 7 whole months. When my friend Lana and I arrived at the studio, we were both like holy cow this salon is FANCY! The whole interior of Arrojo Studio is ultra modern, there is a luxurious cafe, and one has to change into a black silk robe before an assistant will call your name and bring you to your stylist. In the area where the stylists all were busy working, I enjoyed every single thing I saw: stylish and fashionable ladies walking around on high heels, hair artists...
